Exports and imports in Romania, compared to EU countries

EXPORTS

 Across the 27 countries of the European Union, were exported, in 2012, products totaling 4.515,1 billion, of which 62.7% were within the Union and 37.7% with the other countries of the world.

From 2003 until now, exports grew by 47.8% in the EU and 94.0% in other states.

In 2012, among the countries of the European Union, 33.4% of the products exported were manufactured items, 26.3% were machinery and transport equipment, 16.2% – chemicals and related products, 9.9% – food , beverages and tobacco, 9.1% – mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 3.8% – raw materials and 1.3% – goods and transactions not classified in other section.

Of the total exports from the European Union to other countries, 41.9% were machinery and transport equipment, 22.7% – manufactured items, while 16.4%  – chemicals and related products. Fossil fuels and derived materials represented 7.3% of total exports, food, beverages and tobacco 5.9%, goods and transactions not classified in other section 3.0%, and raw materials only 2.8% of all exports.

Romania, exported, in 2012, products totaling 45 bilion euros: 70.2% in the EU and 29.8% in the rest of the world. Most part of exports (40.3%) were represented by machinery and transport equipment, followed by manufactured items (33.2%), food, beverages and tobacco (7.4%), chemicals and related products (6.6%), raw materials (6.0%), mineral fuels, lubricants and related fuels (5.8%) and, finally, goods and transactions not classified in other SITC section (0.6%).

 

IMPORTS

The 27 European Countries have imported, in 2012, products totaling 4.549,1 bilion euros of which, 60.6% were within the Union and 39.4% from other countries.

From 2003 until 2012, imports grew by 51.2% in the EU and 91.6% in other states.

In 2012, among the countries of the European Union 33.2% of imported products were manufactured items, 25.5% were machinery and transport equipment, 16.6% chemicals and related products, 10.1% – food, beverages and tobacco, 9.5% –  mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 4.0% raw materials and 1.1%  goods and transactions not classified in other SITC section.

Of all European Union imports from other countries, 30.4% were mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 25.2% manufactured items, 21.6% were machinery and transport equipment, 9.0% – chemicals and related products, 5.2% – food, bevarage and tobacco, 4.5% raw materials and 4.1% goods and transactions not classified in other SITC section.

Romania imported in 2012, products worth 54.6 bilion euros, 73,5% of these being from European Union countries.

The main products imported by our country were manufactured items (33.7%), machinery and transport equipment (28.8%), chemicals and related products (13.8%), mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials (12.2%), food, beverages and tobacco (7.5%), raw materials (3.6%) and goods and transactions not classified in other SITC section (0.3%).

Trade balance (exports value-imports value) in European Union countries was positive when there were transaction in the union and negative when the exchanges included countries that are not part of the union.

In Romania, the trade balance (exports-imports gap value) was negative throughout the period, which means that our country imports more goods than exports.

The lowest value recorde corresponds to the year 2008 when the difference was -16.1 billions euros, for outside countries.
